Welcome to the Alki Velo Club/Hotwire Racing Team!

Our club was started in Fall 2014 by a group of avid cyclists who raced together in the local cyclocross series. We had opportunities to join other established teams but wanted to start our own. A team based out of West Seattle, sponsored by local businesses which we would be proud to represent and support. The result was the Alki Velo Club/Hotwire Racing Team!

Our goal is to establish a club of dedicated cyclists where members have the opportunity to meet and get to know other riders in the area. We are a non-discriminating cycling club (you are not required to be a racer to join).

This is what “cycling is life” kind of gets at. As a club with members of diverse backgrounds, cycling interests, and levels of involvement, we join together to promote life through cycling and friendship. This means we are fundamentally opposed to all the varieties of baseless social prejudice, hate, and violence. We enthusiastically and unapologetically welcome cyclists of all identities and orientations.

We welcome anybody with a passion for riding and a desire to increase the enjoyment of cycling in our community. We host regular group rides, beginning at Hotwire Coffee House on California Avenue in West Seattle.

As of January 2024, we have over 55 members, and nearly all of us live in West Seattle and enjoy so much what this part of our city has to offer. Our dedication to our neighborhood includes a commitment to supporting our local businesses. With that in mind, we have invited several local businesses to join as sponsor-members. As a team member, you will receive the benefit of discounts from some of these sponsors and the knowledge that we are supporting them on our “kit” inside and outside our community.
